Royal Bank of Canada reported a strong end to the fiscal year this week, announcing results that topped analysts’ expectations but were weighed down by a slump in earnings in the U.S. wealth management business.
The Canadian bank reported adjusted earnings of 2.78 Canadian dollars per share, topping the C$2.62 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg were projecting. U.S.-traded shares of the bank’s stock were up 0.8% at $91.14 midafternoon Friday. (One Canadian dollar equals 0.74 U.S. dollar.)
