Britain’s household’s energy price cap is set to fall by 7 per cent in July, due to a fall in wholesale prices.
Ofgem, the energy regulator, has set the cap at a level that will see typical households paying £1,568 a year, down from £1,690 a year currently.
It means typical bills will have fallen 21 per cent since July 2023, helping efforts to fight inflation.
However, they remain well above levels of less than £1,100 before the energy crisis that began in late 2021 when wholesale gas and electricity prices surged.
